Hi, I'm Renia Metallinou, a freelance illustrator from Greece.
I studied graphic design in Athens and some years later while I was working as a graphic designer
I won a two-year scholarship in fashion design. Although my first illustrations were inspired by fashion
I found my happy place in children’s illustration.
My work combines both digital and traditional media. I mostly work with pencils, ink, watercolours, collage and Adobe’s Photoshop.
In 2013 my first book (Coloring, playing and learning the ABC) was published by Patakis editions.
Since 2014 I work as a full time illustrator, creating books for publishers in Greece and abroad.
In 2016 my second book (Coloring, playing and learning the numbers) was published by Patakis
I'm a member of the Greek IBBY (INTERNATIONAL BOARD ON BOOKS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE). I have been shortlisted for the 2017 World Illustration Awards in the children's book category.
I live a few miles away from Athens, in a small house by the sea, with my husband, our two children and
lots of pets. I love when people tell me that my illustrations make them feel happy. My favorite food is chocolate and my favorite color is turquoise.
